ASAMI KIYOKAWA & KOHEI NAWA: INVISIBLE GARDEN

“Invisible Garden” is the first joint exhibition by artists Asami Kiyokawa and Kohei Nawa. Responding to the pervasive irreality of contemporary society, the pair have created a garden-like environment assembled from disparate tangible and intangible elements: water droplets and plant spores; microorganisms, plants, and animals; dreams, memories, and imaginations; and time itself. The exhibition’s centerpiece, PixCell—Our New World (2026), measures some nine meters across. This collaborative work incorporates fragmentary landscape photographs and AI-generated images produced by Kiyokawa, which Nawa has encased in translucent cells to create an ethereal sense of endlessly repeating division and recombination. Visitors are invited to merge the fragmentary images on display with their own memories and feelings as they make their way through the garden, leading to highly personalized experiences.

POLA MUSEUM ANNEX

Run by the cosmetics company Pola Orbis Holdings, Pola Museum Annex is located in the Pola Ginza Building in one of Tokyo’s busiest shopping districts. Reflecting the company’s mission to “sensitize the world to beauty,” the space hosts a program of free exhibitions throughout the year in the hope that encounters with art will revitalize visitors and enhance their sense of beauty. Exhibitions feature a diverse range of materials, from projects by contemporary Japanese artists to selections from the collection of the Pola Museum of Art in Hakone, which is famed for its holdings of East Asian antiques, Impressionist masterpieces, and other works.
