BIEN

Born in 1993 in Tokyo, Bien is known for making two-dimensional works that deconstruct and reconstruct the forms and meanings of letters, symbols, and animated imagery. In recent years he has expanded his practice to video, sculpture, and installation, continuously questioning the nature of representation and the boundaries of perception across diverse cultural and visual contexts. In this exhibition Bien will present new works inspired by multilayered narrative structures found in film and literature. The coexistence of multiple perspectives that intersect yet never converge has been a consistent concern of Bien’s practice. His use of layered and shifting perspectives invites multifaceted interpretations of his works.

PARCEL

Parcel opened in June 2019 in a former parking lot attached to the DDD Hotel in the Nihonbashi area of Tokyo. Through its distinctive space the gallery supports a program that transcends cultures, introducing a wide range of contemporary artists from both Japan and abroad. In 2022 the gallery added an annex, parcel, located on the second floor of the Maruka Building, a gallery complex around the corner from the main space. Sending out multifaceted messages in response to the times, Parcel/parcel seeks to build a unique program that combines the possibilities of both a commercial gallery and a project space.
