ANNA GLANTZ

Kayokoyuki is pleased to present Anna Glantz’s first solo exhibition in Japan. Born in 1989 in Concord, Massachusetts, Glantz currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She pursues a painting practice that moves fluidly between figuration and abstraction, developing her compositions through repetitive actions—painting, sanding, scraping, and layering—that allow color, form, and texture to shift gradually over time. Through this process the relationship between surface and meaning becomes increasingly ambiguous, lending the work a quiet sense of openness and depth. In a contemporary context shaped by the rapid circulation and consumption of images, Glantz proposes an approach to painting grounded in material presence, subtle details, and sustained attention. This exhibition will feature new works by the artist.

KAYOKOYUKI

Kayokoyuki started out as an office and viewing room in 2011 before officially launching as a gallery in 2013. The gallery supports artists who use ephemeral imagery derived from objects in their everyday lives to reflect on their experiences and create works that propose new ways of coexisting at a time of increasing social polarization.

Represented artists include Nobuya Hitsuda, Kenji Ide, Yohei Imamura, Shiho Kagabu, Kazuki Matsushita, Kate Newby, Yutaka Nozawa, Ayako Ohno, Emi Otaguro, Michi Suwa, Daichi Takagi, Masanori Tomita, and Evelyn Taocheng Wang.
