ICONS AND IMAGE MAKERS: PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

“Icons and Image Makers: Photographs from the National Portrait Gallery” showcases portraits of British film, music, and fashion icons by acclaimed international photographers. Spanning from the 1950s to the present, the exhibition frames each portrait, borrowed from the eponymous London institution, as a dynamic encounter between two creative forces—one before the lens, the other behind it—through which a persona is constructed or truth revealed.
